Are you aged 14-16?
Why not GO SAIL! in your school holidays?

This summer GO SAIL! is giving teenagers aged 14-16 the opportunity to get out on the water and enjoy the fun and excitement of sailing. There are two options on offer:

• Free three hour Taster Session
• Four-day Start Sailing course for £30!

The courses are a great introduction to sailing and give young people the chance to learn a new skill. All courses are run at either Portsmouth Watersports Centre or UKSA in Cowes, Isle of Wight by qualified RYA instructors with full supervision throughout.

FREE Sailing Taster Session

If you have not been sailing before, want to give it a try but are not sure a four-day course is for you then sign up for our free Taster Session.

The session lasts three hours during which you will learn the basics of sailing whilst on land before heading out on to the water to put this into practice. By the end of the session you will be able to sail a figure of eight course. All kit is provided, with the exception of some footwear that you don't mind getting wet.

A parent's testimonial

Louisa’s son Oliver took part in the GO SAIL! programme in May and said: “I would like to say a massive thank you! My son attended and had the best week ever! Special thanks to the instructors as they ensured he got the most out of the week, and Olly was very pleased to have achieved his RYA Stage Two certificate. Many thanks for such an amazing opportunity, without which he wouldn't have found his love for sailing, so we're very thankful!”

*Eligibility for courses

Students can sign up for one course or both and they are open to all students aged 14 - 16 attending Solent state schools and those who are home-schooled. The four-day course is available for just £30 (FREE for students on the pupil premium) and runs through the school holidays.

The innovative GO SAIL! project is funded by the 1851 Trust, the official charity of Land Rover BAR, and offers young people living in the Solent area the chance to try sailing, learn something new and develop character skills.
